L-O-V-E - Love, Peace, and Harmony Album Notes Vol. 3

There are a lot of love songs out in the ether and as Sir Paul sang, “You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs, I look around me and I see it isn't so.” So with that in mind, I added one more silly love song in the world.

L-O-V-E, was the first song that I wrote for this album (2012). I was getting ready for a Valentine’s Day themed show at the Martinsburg Public Library and just before I left the house, this tune popped into my head. Within 10 minutes, I had the chorus written out and 2 verses. The music follows a blues progression with simple lyrics that ask the listener 2 questions: 1) “How do you show someone love?” and 2) “Who are the people that you love?”

The last verse sings, “Who are the people that you love? Your sister, your brother, your mother, your father, or your grandparents too. Your aunts or your uncles, your cousins or your friends, and even your foes. Who are the people that you love.” I added, “foes,” to the list because we do need be reminded often that we can love our enemies. Many religions have taught this concept for thousands of years. Love your enemies. It’s easy for us to say we hate someone, but it takes a stronger person to say, “I may hate what that person is doing, but I am going to love them anyway.”

It’s not easy to love your foes, but it can make our world better and stronger. Even if we’re just singing it in this silly little love song.

“L-O-V-E, that spells love. It’s on the ground below and in the stars above. L-O-V-E, that spells love”

With love, peace, and harmony,
